0.9.0429: Comment Diet

Alaska and Ketchikan

Evening,

The comment system has received a pretty large update on both the front end and the back end. Here is a list of comment system changes only.

When you post a reply to a comment, you will see that full reply appear below it in the appropriate spot. How long have you wanted to see that?

The default "short time" was chaged from MM/DD/YYYY to MM/DD/YY so avatar area can appear smaller.

The entire design of the comments has been compacted. There are now much smaller buttons and there is less space between the content inside the comment. Design is subject to change a few more times...

The "expand all" buttons have been redesigned

Bug Fix: When linking someone directly to a comment (you can get the URL by clicking the time on a comment) sometimes it wouldn't reveal the entire thread

3rd set of replies have the same left border color as the 2nd.

--------------------------

Now here are some site changes for the rest of the site.

There is a new Setting that will turn your userbox (the panel with your avatar) into a very tiny bar. This will give you much more room to view the chat box and recent activity. Recommended for those of you that recognize the icons on the userbox already, and don't need any text

Once an article is posted or edited, you will be redirected to it in 3 seconds.

View poll and video buttons are now smaller and aligned. They have a new animation when you toggle them

Bug Fix: Reply button in an inbox message will now disable itself once clicked to prevent double-replying

Article rate button aligned and no longer says "None" if it doesn't have a rating

Bug Fix: If you typed /ME (caps) in the chatbox, it wouldn't detect that you were trying to make an action message

The chat box now acts as if you are online. If you are inactive on the page for 5 minutes, it will auto log you out. When you refresh, you will be logged back in. If you click "Sign off", the chat will disable and not be enabled again until you click "Login"

New chat messages are now highlighted again once they're revealed

Auto logout due to logging in somewhere else now redirects in 8 seconds instead of 10 (oh my)

Faded/old chat messages are now a bit darker. Background color for even messages is darker.

Bug Fix: You can no longer rate your own comment if the cache allows you to use the thumb button
